Inspired by a restaurant concept from his CNBC reality television show, The Profit, The Simple Greek was founded by Marcus Lemonis in 2015. Marcus had always wanted to find an opportunity to share his love of Greek food with the world and The Simple Greek was an instant success!
The Simple Greek concept was franchised in 2016. Three short years later, we have opened locations across the country and our current plans call for rapid expansion.
There are numerous choices when it comes to Quick Service Dining, and it seems like there is a new one that opens up every couple of months. So what makes the difference? All of them have their recipes and their specific decor, but how many of them treat you like family? Most of these restaurants are owned by investment groups, but The Simple Greek is owned by families, and that is how we treat our guests – like they are visiting our home.
We are Ron and Sean, and even though we look alike and sound alike, surprisingly, we aren’t brothers. Even though we aren’t related, we have become family over the past several years, and that bond became even stronger when we decided to take a chance and open one of the first Simple Greek locations in the United States, and the very first in Ohio. We are incredibly passionate about our business because we love great food and are addicted to providing outstanding service. Don’t be surprised when you stop in for lunch that you actually have one of the owners stop by your table to make sure that your Traditional Gyro Pita is warm and delicious or to check to see if your homemade rice pudding tastes just right. Locally owned and operated is just the way we like it. We want to spend a great deal of time around our employees and our food to make sure that our service and food quality are perfect.
We started with just one location in Boardman, OH, and in just two short years, Sean and I have grown to three stores – two in Ohio and one in Pennsylvania. We were named Franchisee of the Year in 2018, but we are never satisfied. We are always working to get better. If you look at our franchise website, it will tell you that, “The Simple Greek is redefining the traditional Greek restaurant with an interactive concept that combines high-quality ingredients, open kitchens and Greek atmosphere in a fast-casual setting,” but what we like to think we are doing is redefining the Quick Service Meal where you are treated like family rather than just a customer – just the way Yia Yia likes it.
The Simple Greek is utilizing a build-your-own assembly line style set-up in an open kitchen to show off all of the fresh food being prepared. After a new menu and menu board were created, the ordering process was simplified to fit an easy assembly line layout. Each bowl, salad, or pita is made right before your eyes as you go down the line. All you have to do is simply step up to the counter and create your own Greek creation utilizing a variety of fresh meats, veggies, sauces, and spices. There is also a variety of different sides, sweets, and drinks you can add to your order.
The Simple Greek prides itself on serving not only the most authentic Greek style food, but a fresh and healthy take on the ancient Greek recipes. Our ingredients are anything but ordinary and our dedication to quality and premium products is what drives every decision within our menu.
